Anonymous hacks Canadian government
Members of the hacking online collective, Anonymous, have claimed responsibility for a cyber-attack on Canadian government systems. Members of the Canadian parliament were warned of an approaching attack a few days prior to the start of the attack.
The hacktivists published a video explaining that the attack was a protest against the recent passing of the Canadian federal anti-terrorism bill.
A denial-of-service attack hit the gc.ca domain server, a host to many Canadian government websites, in addition to causing the crash of email accounts used by government personnel. No personal information was composed and the attacks subsided within several hours.
