If you ever needed to be scared into protecting yourself and your wireless network then an online advert by LIGATT Security may be about to do just that.

Not being one to place or promote a company above any other, but having been flagged by security blogger Bruce Schneier, this advert - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy9LELlwbZs&feature=player_embedded - certainly drums the message home about how crucial it is to secure your home network when there are hackers on the prowl.

I am unfamiliar with LIGATT Security, and a quick search on the star of the advert Gregory Evans, reveals him to be the world's premier hacker. It is quite apparent then that he is promoting the services of a company of ‘hackers for hire services, penetration testing, port scanning and much more' and specialises in ethical hackers.

Schneier commented that ‘LIGATT Security certainly hopes to scare people', while another blog hosted by ‘milesb' said that they ‘are responsible for what might be the greatest information security commercial ever created'.

While Evans comes over all WWE and scares the viewer into personal information security, this is an effective campaign and one, which if it ever makes it beyond the world of YouTube on to public airwaves could have an impact. Quite what it will do for LIGATT and its reputation is uncertain though.
