Cracka got Clapper – US intelligence director hacked

Cracka, the Free Palestine activist who hacked into CIA director John Brennan's email account last October, has struck again, claiming to be in possession of the personal email and phone details of US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

An alleged member of the hacker group Crackas with Attitude, Cracka, spoke with Motherboard and said that he had access to a number of accounts connected to Clapper, including personal and family email accounts and phone and internet accounts.

Brian Hale, spokesperson for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI),  confirmed it is aware of the hacking incident and had reported it to appropriate authorities.

As part of the sting, Cracka claims to have changed the settings of Clapper's Verizon FiOS account so that every incoming call to his house number would get redirected to the Free Palestine Movement, providing a list of call logs to Clapper's home number. He also claimed to have screenshots from Clapper's wife's Yahoo email account, as well as Clapper's email account. It has yet to be confirmed that the screenshots are real.

If it follows the pattern of Cracka's previous attacks, this incident is most likely the result of a carefully crafted social engineering campaign. Cracka and his cohorts would have spent time researching Clapper and his family and used social engineering techniques to guess Clapper's passwords or security questions. It may also have involved spoofing service providers to get them to disclose sensitive information.
