Daesh (IS) cyber-attack exposes Australians
Hackers declaring to be from Daesh have published details of a Victorian MP, NSW public servants and defence force workers and their relatives. Details include phone numbers, email addresses and suburbs.
Fairfax Media reports the group calling themselves the ‘Islamic State Hacking Division' called on its followers to attack people whose information was published. The Australian Federal Police are aware of the claims by the group, but would not confirm further details.
Some of the victims were unaware of the attack including the Victoria MP and ADF employees.
A message from the hackers that was available online reads, “Know that we are in your emails and computer systems, watching and recording your every move. We are extracting confidential data and passing on your personal information to the soldiers of the khilafah, who soon with the permission of Allah will strike at your necks in your own lands!”
