Deputy Departmental Security Officer - Information Security

Salary: SOCA Grade 1 £62,146 plus London weighting of £3,162
Location: London
Ref: SC

To tackle national and transnational organised crime, our information and systems must be completely secure. As our resident expert in this field, you will be tasked with advising the Deputy Director of Security on all aspects of information and communications security; drawing on your in-depth knowledge of Information Security Management Systems. That's because you'll be playing a major role in not only helping protect vital criminal evidence, but also protecting the integrity, security and safety of people who work here at The Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).

Ultimately, you will be responsible for co-ordinating and strategically directing activities that protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our data, both in the UK and overseas. The measures you recommend must reflect the value of the information we hold – after all, it's critical to major criminal investigations. You will need to ensure that your advice is taken up across the organisation by encouraging staff to work to corporate standards, checking our compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation and helping to establish best practice.

For such a key role, with leadership and decision making duties, it's important you're armed with an array of skills: communication; problem solving; negotiating and strategic thinking. With these, plus a degree (or equivalent) in IT, Communications, Infosec or another relevant subject, you'll be equipped to keep us protected – and one step ahead of the criminals.
