Fortinet introduces web content filtering and email functions in new FortiMail operating system
Fortinet has launched the new version of the operating system for its FortiMail email security appliances.
Designed for large deployments at managed service and internet service providers, it now includes groupware functionality, web filtering and content protection. According to the company, its architecture provides real-time inspection and blocking to stop email threats with as little resource impact as possible, while the need for mail queuing is also offered, to enable performance improvement.
Fortinet also said that it offers encryption, quarantine, archiving, anti-virus, anti-spam, content filtering, in/out email rate control, management and reporting from a single platform. The web filtering and content protection uses the FortiGuard URL database categories, which are based upon web content viewing suitability, to provide real-time updates that enable administrators to apply highly granular policies that filter web access based on 79 web content categories and over 100 million rated websites.
John Maddison, vice president of marketing for Fortinet, said: “Whether you're a service provider or an enterprise, email security is critical to customer satisfaction and organisational productivity. That's why the introduction of FortiMail 5.0 and our new FortiMail email security marks a key milestone.”
