France working to protect critical infrastructure from cyber attacks
ANSSI, France's national agency for computer systems security, has drawn up plans to make its critical infrastructure more resilient from cyber-attacks.
The agency has revealed on its website how industry stakeholders (OEMs, integrators, industrial associations and end users) have been working together since February 2013 as part of a working group that aims to “provide concrete and practical proposals to improve the cyber security of critical infrastructure”.
Their early work has resulted in two documents (now available in English) on the classification of critical infrastructure systems and how to make them more resilient, as well as other matters. The second document gives a more in-depth description of the improvements that can be made.
The proposals will serve as a basis for drafting cyber security rules in accordance with the French law (2013-1168) created on 18 December 2013.
