Does Adblock Plus weaken Mac OSX security?

This week, a Webroot threat research analyst revealed how the use of ad-blocking software by Mac users could not only be leaving them with a false sense of security but actually putting them at risk. Devin Byrd explained how Mac users are often told that their chosen platform is safe from threats and malware, and a 'vast majority' still believe this despite plenty of proof to the contrary. Thomson data breach exposes hundreds of customer details

A data protection breach at travel company Thomson has exposed personal details of many passengers. The home addresses, telephone numbers and flight dates were revealed for nearly 500 travellers in the UK.

An email cited by the BBC shows that the details of 458 people were shared on 15 August. Some of those affected have shown anger at the company's handling of this incident. Thomson has apologised for the episode, and called it a “genuine error”, however it advised customers that they would not receive any compensation. [Read more]

A woman insider leaked the Madison cheats cache says McAfee

According to John McAfee, in a report for ibtimes, Ashley Madison was not hacked - the data was stolen by a woman operating on her own who worked for Avid Life Media.

McAfee makes the claim based on his own analysis of the data dumps provided saying: “... this job was done by someone who already had the keys to the Kingdom. It was an inside job.” [Read more]
