Google calls for a return to mainframe security values.
Enterprise security will soon return to a centrally managed model like the mainframes of 30 years ago, according to Google.
He
also pointed out that between ten and 15 per cent of devices are lost
at some point in their lifecycle, leading to a growing risk of data
loss.
Jesper Frederiksen, director of Postini sales EMEA
Google, said: "One of our core beliefs at Google is that data will
increasingly become stored 'in the cloud'. This will address many of
the current security challenges, such as data loss. We need to
re-establish the reliable security of the mainframe era, but blend it
with the flexibility of web 2.0."
Google acquired Postini, an on-demand managed security provider, in July 2007 for $625 million.
