Phishing scam hacks British Gas Twitter account
Less innocuously, according to press reports the tweets included a shortened link sending users to a false “Twitter page” asking them to sign back into the site. Upon logging back into Twitter, users exposed themselves to leaking their personal account information to the phishers, including usernames and passwords.
The hacked tweets were quickly removed by British Gas, which tweeted in response: “We are aware our Twitter account has been compromised. Please delete any spam tweets you have received. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
