Sunbelt Software enhances CWSandbox and incorporates file detection and analysis

Sunbelt Software has launched the new version of its CWSandbox to incorporate the interpretation of the behaviour of any file.

Version 3.0 of Sunbelt CWSandbox enables security analysts and incident response teams to analyse the behaviour of suspected files by executing code inside a controlled and monitored environment. The company claimed that the Digital Behaviour Traits (DBT) technology can determine automatically whether a file, document or website is malicious.

Chad Loeven, vice president and general manager for SunbeltLabs, claimed that by simulating the way in which a user would interact with a rogue application, CWSandbox automates what is otherwise a manual process.

He said: “Automated threat analysis is essential to organisations that are targeted by malware writers with brand new viruses that have not yet been categorised or catalogued by traditional anti-virus solutions.”
