Symantec adds eDiscovery and data loss prevention technology to latest version of Enterprise Vault
Data loss prevention (DLP) technology has been added to the latest version of Symantec's Enterprise Vault solution.
According to the company, version ten analyses Microsoft Exchange email content and metadata to help determine the archiving and retention strategy for all messages. This classifies email content and metadata and assigns the appropriate archiving and retention policy.
It also said that all social media interactions can be archived for compliance and eDiscovery purposes while encryption technologies allow organisations to classify, store and discover encrypted information.
Capabilities for eDiscovery are also added courtesy of technology from Clearwell to enable users to process, analyse and review those records for internal audits, legal eDiscovery and corporate governance purposes.
Brian Dye, vice president of product management at Symantec, said: “Businesses have learned how important it is to protect and preserve email, instant messenger, documents, spreadsheets and other unstructured information and they are learning that the same is true for social media records.
“Enterprise Vault 10 can significantly reduce risks, especially for organizations in highly litigious or regulated industries, without inhibiting the business and productivity benefits of social media and collaboration tools.”
