The next challenge: wrist-mounted quadcopters with video capability
If your information security policies are just getting up to speed with the security risks of wearable technology, and you have concerns about video-recorders mounted on drones, then you may not be ready for the challenges posed by Nixie, a small camera-equipped quadcopter drone which is worn on your wrist like a watch.
Nixie is currently a prototype seeking developement funding and will be presented at the Intel Make It Wearable Challenge Finale on 3 November, 2014 in San Francisco, USA. The quadcopter's rotor arms are flexible and can be wrapped around your wrist to form a clasp. Then, when you decide you want to launch it, a gesture releases the clasp and Nixie takes off directly from your arm and films autonomously using Intel's tiny Edison chip to avoid obstacles and keep its owner in its sights.
