The fourth annual Global Security Challenge Competition is now open for entries.

The international competition for security innovators offers up to $500,000 in cash grants and aims to identify, explore and foster innovation in the field of homeland security technology.

The submission deadline is the 15th June, 2009 with the final held in London on 13th November, 2009. Founders Simon Schneider and Janeen Chupa said: “The Global Security Challenge is proving to be a very successful forum, bringing together innovators with leaders from government, venture capital and industry.

“We are proud that our top contenders from previous Global Security Challenge Competitions have subsequently raised over $52 million in fresh capital.”

The 2009 competition will include a number of regional semi-finals held in Europe, Asia and North America and will culminate with the grand final at the GSC Security Summit at the London Business School.

The organisers say that the winners will receive cash grants, mentorship, publicity and exposure. Mentors come from venture capital funds including Hummer Winblad and Civitas Group.
