AirWatch has announced the launch of an ‘app wrapping engine' to add security features to internal apps without writing any additional source code.
According to the company, the AirWatch wrapping engine app allows for forced authentication, enforcement of passwords, compromised device detection, prevention of copy/paste from the app and disablement of WiFi, Bluetooth and the camera.
It is delivered as part of its mobile application management offering, and AirWatch said it allows IT administrators to manage internal, public and purchased apps across employee, corporate or shared devices in organisations.
Also, the application management solution gives developers multiple options to manage internally developed apps by using security and management capabilities available through the AirWatch Software Development Kit (SDK). These include compromised status and jailbreak detection, certificate provisioning, geofencing, reporting and analytics, application health and diagnostics, dynamic server-side configuration and provisioning of apps and defining custom settings for apps.
