Kaspersky has updated it's Android-based internet security offering, giving it the ability to connect to a user's smartphone or tablet that runs the security app with a smartwatch.
The new version allows users to control information from the antivirus on their smartwatch, giving them the ability to choose to receive threat notifications on the mobile device that will automatically send to them to the smartwatch to alert the user of the problem.
Commands sent by the user from the watch can also activate an alarm to find a lost phone, run a scan for Android malware or update anti-virus databases. The app also has tools that can hide personal data in case of theft.
“Statistics show that Android continues to be the second most attacked platform after Microsoft Windows, which is why owners of Android-based devices are strongly recommended to use security solutions,” says Alexey Chikov, product manager at Kaspersky Lab. “At the same time, the Internet of Things market is rapidly developing, attracting more and more users. This means that security solution vendors need to make it possible for customers to use the IoT in combination with their protection solutions.”
The new version of the internet security solution is compatible with all of the latest Android smartphones and available on Google Play. Only Android Wear watches are supported.
