Nortel today released details of its new Global Operations Centre of Excellence, to be based in Istanbul, Turkey.
Nortel sees the opening of this centre as part of an ongoing business development, which involves reducing over 100 global centres into fewer, more focused, Centres of Excellence. It is hoped that this move will improve the overall quality of Nortel's technical product support and integration and acceptance services.
The centre will be located on the R&D campus of Nortel's Turkish subsidiary Nortel Netas, and will focus on providing technical and operational support on a global scale, as well as solution integration and acceptance for EMEA. It is expected that around 300 jobs for graduates and experienced network support experts will be created as a result of this development.

The Global Operations Centre of Excellence is expected to go into service in the first half of 2007.
