Information security firm nCipher has announced the appointment of Robert Jeens as non-executive chairman of the board.
Jeens, who previously worked for Touche Ross & Co, Kleinwort Benson Group and the Woolwich, will take up the role with immediate effect. He replaces Dr Ossama Hassanein, who has retired after nine years at the organisation.
The appointment comes as the encryption specialist celebrates its tenth anniversary and reveals it will be responsible for securing passenger data in the new biometric check-in scheme at Heathrow airport.
"Digital data is no more sensitive than it was ten years ago, but there is a greater amount of it and even more people want access to it from any location, so business agility has become the name of the game," said Alex van Someren, chief executive officer at nCipher. "The challenge for many companies is to open their internal systems for greater flexibility while recognising the high level of scrutiny and regulatory pressure around the privacy and integrity of personal and corporate information."
