Critical Software has launched a web security product under its iCritical brand.
Named WebCritical, it combines protection against online threats with third generation web filtering technology. Therefore it can secure corporate IT networks from online risks such as viruses, malware, tojans, worms and phishing while enabling organisations to enforce customisable web usage policies among internal users, with unprecedented accuracy.
Some of the features of WebCritical include web content categorisation and sensitivity management to enable organisations to grant or deny access to predefined content in the workplace, as well group and internet policies to manage restrictions to different levels of people.
Web browsing restrictions can be controlled by the time sensitivity management tool while instant messaging, peer to peer and file download management may be blocked completely or customised to a company's need. WebCritical also offers full Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) support, ensuring that it is easy to integrate with any network and can be installed within minutes to give immediate protection.
Chris Gee, director at Critical Software, comments: “Unlike traditional web filtering solutions, WebCritical's rationale for allowing or denying access to internet content is based on a multi-dimensional approach. It combines the best of conventional web filtering tools, such as URL databases, allow/deny listing and key word scanning and blocking, with additional layers of patented language analysis and intelligent identification techniques.”
