November 24th is set to see a peak in the spread of viruses and malicious software.
PC Tools has analysed information on more than 500,000 computers worldwide, and compared data from the same period in 2007 and the result is the Monday before Thanksgiving.
The company believes that this is a time for attacks due to the increased online activity at this time of the year before Christmas and on the day after Thanksgiving, when many US stores traditionally hold large sales.
It is expected that hackers and fraudsters will try and trick consumers into downloading malicious software to access banking login details and passwords for online shopping sites.
Consumers have already been warned about being vigilant in the run-up to Christmas, with a notable visible improvement in security now being undertaken by many popular sites.
