Optenet launches into the UK

The Spain headquartered security-as-a-service provider has released its portfolio into the British market, building on the back of contract wins from McDonalds and Hilton Hotels

Taking a break from the country's footballing celebrations, Spanish security-as-a-service provider Optenet today launched into the UK.

Optenet sells a web gateway to enterprises and a security suite to service providers, covering web filtering, anti-spam, anti-virus and firewalling under the Optenet Content Security Suite brand.

It has already had contract wins with McDonalds and Hilton Hotels as enterprise customers and Orange and O2 on the service provider side of things.

"The availability of the Optenet Content Security Suite in the UK allows us to deliver our proven security solutions in a market that is primed for massively scalable, customised security options," said Francisco Martin, Optenet's chief executive officer.

The company has changed focus somewhat since its creation in 1997: it was established as an ISP before diversifying into software-as-a-service as the market emerged in the last few years.
