Sourcefire's founder and CTO Martin Roesch has been included on eWeek's Top 100 Most Influential People in IT list.
The list recognises individuals who have consistently succeeded in information technology and for their ability to develop emerging technologies.
Roesch was selected by for his creation of Snort, an intrusion detection and prevention solution. It was named the winner of best network security at the SC Magazine Awards Europe 2008.
Sourcefire's recent success is due to the hard work and commitment of all its employees, according to Roesch.
"I am honoured that the Ziff Davis editors included me on such a prestigious list of information technology innovators, and I want to also recognise the efforts of everyone at Sourcefire and within the Snort community for their dedication and support," he said.
Other notable IT figures on the list include Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple; Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft; and Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle.
