Microsoft has suspended the ability to attach photos in Hotmail messages.

It claimed in a blog post that members can ‘no longer add photos directly into the body of a Windows Live Hotmail message' following investigations by the Windows Live team.

It claimed that it ‘is constantly reviewing Hotmail to ensure quality service to our customers'. It also said that: “During a recent review, we identified an incompatibility with Internet Explorer that caused a security flaw with photo uploads, and we made the decision to temporarily remove the feature.

“The Hotmail team takes security very seriously and we expect to bring back the photo upload feature by the end of September. In the meantime, you can still add pictures as attachments to your Hotmail messages, by clicking Attach, and then File, and then selecting the picture you want to include.”

However the issue was raised by Hotmail users on 24th July, with one user claiming: “It was so easy to use the Photo Upload feature when attaching photos. Why is this not working anymore?”

Another said: “I have just discovered that I no longer have the multiple photo attachment feature on my Hotmail. It was working last night. I can see that I am not alone. Has the feature been removed or is this just a temporary problem?”
