Rackspace Hosting has announced that it is now PCI DSS compliant in hosting.
Meeting a comprehensive set of security requirements designed to protect cardholder information, the scope of Rackspace's PCI service provider accreditation covers physical security for UK and US data centres and offices, as well as employee access to network devices.
It is now certified as a level one service provider that reinforces Rackspace's ability to provide secure services to its customers, particularly in the e-commerce sector, where the need to protect cardholder information is critical.
Francis Ofungwu, manager of security strategy at Rackspace Hosting, claimed that in order to store credit card data you need to prove ability to do so securely, and the company has clients who store and process as a part of their offering, so the company needs to be PCI compliant.
Ofungwu said: “As more transactions move online, the need to protect cardholder information is even more critical. By becoming PCI compliant we can help take some of the strain of off our customers and help them to focus on growing their business.”
