Lumension has announced the acquisition of the assets of Securityworks.

The details of the acquisition of the Dallas, Texas-based IT governance, risk and compliance provider were undisclosed. The deal enables Lumension to strengthen it's Operational Endpoint Security Suite. The suite will be integrated with the IT compliance and risk management capabilities of Securityworks, to deliver an integrated solution suite that enables enterprises to immediately identify their business risks within the context of compliance regulations.

Lumension's Risk and Compliance Management Solution will allow the identification of business interests and assess risk, as well as complete risk remediation and compliance management.

Lumension's Andrew Clarke explained that the integrated solution will offer an end-to-end reliance and risk management product.

Clarke said: “What Securityworks do is complimentary to what Lumension are doing, customers need to understand IT on a business and to improve business is what gives the IT manager the chance to contribute.

“The business needs to set plans for compliance and the board need to understand the impact of implementation. This is a new impact that has existed in a separate form but not tied into IT governance – it is time for this to mean something.”

Bryan Fish, president of Securityworks, said: “Securityworks is known for bringing its customers a complete and cost-effective compliance and risk management offering through automation that allows users to tap predefined compliance and control frameworks in order to quickly identify and prioritise IT risks to business interests.

“By integrating these capabilities with Lumension's solutions, customers can achieve greater visibility across their IT risk environment while reducing the cost of compliance through better automation of risk assessment and remediation processes. This is a solid step forward for organisations and one that we are proud to be part of.”

Pat Clawson, chairman and CEO of Lumension, said: “Through this acquisition of Securityworks' assets, Lumension will be able to deliver a unified solution suite that will enable companies to safeguard their valuable assets while managing their IT risk environment in a simple and cost-effective manner that our competitors cannot match."
