The BBC Click botnet may be legally questionable but could help raise awareness.

According to a poll by Sophos, who have verbally questioned the legality and responsibility of the broadcaster's actions since the end of last week, conducted the poll via its website.

From a total of 844 polled votes, 33 per cent of respondents (281 votes) claimed that it may be legally questionable but it helps raise awareness when asked if they approved of the BBC using a botnet to send spam from innocent users' computers.

Thirty per cent (251 votes) claimed that they disagreed with the idea, and claimed that it set a dangerous precedent, 26 per cent (217 votes)  felt that it was against the law while 11 per cent (95 votes)  said that they agreed with the experiment, and asked what the fuss was about.
