A surge of spam and phishing messages is expected with the inauguration of Barack Obama on Tuesday.

 

With a warning that phishing and spamming campaigns often coincide with highly publicised events, US-Cert has claimed to have received reports of an increased number of phishing sites and spam related to the upcoming Presidential inauguration. It warned users to remain cautious when receiving unsolicited email.

 

The company is encouraging users and administrators to not follow unsolicited links, not to open unsolicited email messages and to use caution when visiting untrusted websites.
