Aladdin introduce SaaS secure login solution

Aladdin Knowledge Systems has announced general availability of its HASP SRM software-as-a-service (SaaS) pass.

Aladdin Knowledge Systems has announced the launch of its HASP SRM software-as-a-service (SaaS) pass.


Using this, on-demand software providers are able to maximise their revenue by preventing users from sharing their username and password with unauthorised individuals, according to Aladdin.


Allowing login access to software-on-demand only from specific, pre-activated machines, Aladdin claims that it ensures the highest level of secure and controlled access to the hosted application and sensitive end-user data.


The SaaS Pass solution is based on a small client application installed on the end-user's PC that communicates over the internet with the service provider's web application. The client application collects and passes the user name and password to the web application for validation.


To ensure the highest level of security, the user's password and a server-generated, time-stamp validation string, are encrypted using the HASP SRM AES 128-bit encryption engine, before they are sent to the service provider's web application.


Director of product management, Haim Ramon described it as a ‘solution that enables providers to do more business by a secure line'. Ramon claimed that it ensures that the provider can be sure that revenue comes in and the customer knows that they are doing business securely.


Further, Ramon claimed that it has an end-user benefit as it only allows direct connection via a secure line, so a connection cannot be made where there is a chance of the line being intercepted.


Laila Arad-Allan, vice president of the software DRM business unit at Aladdin, said: “Many of our customers offering SaaS cite shared username/password login information as a significant source of revenue loss. By integrating HASP SRM into their SaaS offering, ISVs can reclaim lost revenues by ensuring that only authorised users on authorised machines access their on-demand applications and data.”
