ForeScout and Fiberlink have merged technologies to produce a combined mobile device management (MDM) and network access control (NAC) offering.

After the company launched plug-in modules for the management of Android and iOS devices in February, ForeScout has now unveiled MDM powered by Fiberlink MaaS360, combining cloud-based MDM services, comprehensive device support and unified security control.

Available from June, it will offer unified visibility, control and compliance reporting for all mobile endpoint devices through the CounterACT platform, mobile application blacklisting, minimum OS-level verification and device feature restrictions, and the ability to remotely locate, lock and fully or selectively wipe lost or stolen devices.

ForeScout vice-president of worldwide marketing Scott Gordon said it recognised a gap in its product line to offer full provisioning and selective wiping of data for those who want to embrace bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies.

“When a customer comes to us saying that they want to do BYOD, we say they can do it with CounterACT as we have an MDM with unified visibility and an integrated module,” he said.

“With the technology from ForeScout and Fiberlink, you can see all managed and unmanaged devices from the technology and invoke every policy that has restrictions, so you have got unified visibility and control in a highly integrated solution.”

Jim Sheward, CEO of Fiberlink, said: “MaaS360's cloud-based approach delivers the agility, security and scalability required in the mobile enterprise today. We are excited to team with ForeScout to bring a combined solution that provides end-to-end mobility management and security across devices, applications, data and networks.”

ForeScout MDM will be sold as a standalone product, or it can be integrated within CounterACT. ForeScout said that it plans to extend CounterACT's interoperability other third party MDM platforms.
