Security needs to be changed to a three-levelled system incorporating people, policy and enforcement.

Speaking at the Check Point Experience in Barcelona, Check Point founder and CEO Gil Shwed said that security needs to be changed not just for this year or next year, but for the next ten years.

He said: “There is more consolidation, virtualisation of the infrastructure and the challenge of security to deal with. There is also mobile devices to deal with and data leakage, the threat of losing valuable data from a secure or unsecure infrastructure.

“Security is a combination of many things and a point solution, but that is not enough. Security should be at a higher level and should be a business enabler. We have enforcement and policy but the weakest link has been people, the people who operate the system and those who use it. If we combine these together we have a good chance to get security at the right level.”

The company introduced a new concept called '3D Security', which Shwed said starts with policy on what you want to achieve, includes people and lets them understand what to do, and consolidates security and allows you to know what you are trying to achieve will work.

“Policy should be simple, meaningful and useable and starting with policy, we want to promote the message to bring tools to run the security business processes and security expertise,” he said.

He also pointed to the typical security tools and software that businesses install and said that a main problem is that the policies are not united and do not work together.

He said: “We want to create solutions that are much more powerful and integrated and take technology to a true security solution that will secure enterprises.”
