Australian Anonymous members in court

News by Ava Fedorov

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) arrested two men yesterday suspected of being criminal hackers associated with the Anonymous group.

Hard drives and other computer equipment were seized from their homes, though reports say that the staggering amount of information they contain will take several months to analyse.

According to allegations published in the AAP, the two hackers targeted large ISP's and web servers that hosted government websites for Australia and Indonesia. The attacks created unauthorised modification resulting in substantial impairment including the theft of personal data, defacement of websites and distributed denial of service attacks, causing websites to drop offline, the AFP said.

Both men are appearing in Australian Court today.
