Becrypt has announced that its DISK Protect is the first product to go through CESG's new certification programme for data security products.
It said DISK Protect has been certified for demonstrating good commercial security practice, and is suitable for lower threat environments such as PROTECT and some RESTRICTED data.
In the Commercial Product Assurance scheme, CESG and independent test labs evaluate commercial security products against published security standards for use in the UK public sector. DISK Protect has been certified to the Foundation Grade level.
A spokesman for CESG said: “We have worked hard with our industry partners to develop CPA, and are delighted to announce the first certified product. CPA is a key part of the Cyber Security Strategy and sets strong standards for suppliers to government of commercial off-the-shelf security products.
“We are grateful to Becrypt and our first test labs – Enex and Siventure – for the interest and support they have given us during the pilot phase of CPA.”
Bernard Parsons, CEO of Becrypt said: “We were very pleased to be able to work with CESG on this new framework for assurance, to give purchasers confidence that the product they are buying has an assurance to protect their data. We are delighted that DISK Protect is the first product to be certified as meeting this standard.”
