Symantec has announced the launch of the next version of its messaging gateway.

According to the company, Symantec Messaging Gateway 9.5, formerly called ‘Symantec Brightmail Gateway', allows organisations to customise their definition of unwanted email to personalise the protection they receive.

In addition, Symantec Messaging Gateway allows for integration with data loss prevention (DLP) and encryption solutions to protect outbound communications. It also integrates with the Symantec Protection Center single sign-on web console that provides administrators full access to configuration management, report generation and dashboard views of multiple protection technologies.

Blake McConnell, senior director, product management at Symantec, said: “We help companies of all sizes maintain the integrity of their sensitive information. Symantec Messaging Gateway keeps unwanted email out while protecting an organisation's outgoing communications.

“With the evolution in targeted attacks, such as advanced persistent threats, protecting proprietary business information is more important than ever.”
