Check Point has launched a range of eight security appliances offering performance from 3GB to 100Gbps.

Designed to support the new 64-bit operating system and enable customers to benefit from consolidated security, simplified management and unique iPhone mobile access, they offer approximately three times higher performance than their predecessors, the company said.

According to the company, seven of the appliances are for security purposes and are designed to optimise Check Point's software blade architecture and support the company's vision for "3D security" – combining policies, people and enforcement.

The 2200 appliance for branch and small offices offers 3Gbps firewall performance and 2Gbps intrusion prevention (IPS) throughput; two enterprise security appliances (the 4600 and 4800) offer 9Gbps and 11Gbps of firewall performance, and 4 or 6Gbps of IPS.

For data centres, the 12200 is a 1U security appliance offering 15Gbps firewall performance and 8Gbps IPS throughput, with optional system redundancy of power supply and hard drives; the 12400 achieves 25Gbps of firewall performance and 12Gbps IPS throughput; and the 12600 offers up to 30Gbps firewall performance and 17Gbps of IPS, also allowing customers to support up to 150 virtual systems with Check Point VSX.

Each appliance includes Check Point's security management software and the company's Mobile Access Software Blade that enables secure connectivity of iPhones, tablets and other mobile devices.

Gil Shwed, founder, chairman and CEO of Check Point, said: “In a world where all industries and organisations face an ever-increasing number of sophisticated threats, there is a need for a stronger security solution to control network access, prevent data loss and protect against web-based threats.

“With our latest line of appliances, customers can achieve new levels of integrated protection with the higher connection capacity and triple performance needed to power their business.”
