Cortado has combined cloud desktop services and mobile device management (MDM) to offer stringent security and enterprise productivity.

According to the company, Cortado Corporate Server 6.0 offers full desktop functionality and file access while allowing companies to keep control of devices and user and device activities and permissions in a secure way, without interfering with the native user experience.

It said the new version, a combination of previously launched technologies, allows direct access to the file system with complex movement of files unnecessary, as important documents can be accessed at any time from a hard drive.

Speaking to SC Magazine, Cortado CEO and president Carsten Mickeleit said that with "container"-style MDM, there are limitations as documents can only be sent via email or cloud storage, impacting security.

“Our point of view is that mobile device management is re-doing the same thing so you can only support what the hardware wants you to provide. It is not a big deal for us to add mobile device management as we released an HTML5 client last year and we added this into the console,” he said.

“You can login with your Active Directory or allow a user to login and allow them in based on their Active Directory rights and from that they can configure their details or change their password.”

Mickeleit said this is software-based for the management console and it was working on a solution that would be cloud-based.

The solution is fully compatible with the BlackBerry OS, as well as Apple iOS and Android, available from the end of next month.
