The Xfinity account of John Holdren, senior advisor on science and technology to US president Barack Obama, has been breached.

The same hacking team, Crackas with Attitude (CWA), previously attacked other US government top dogs such as CIA director John Brennan, US National Intelligence director James Clapper and other US officials.

Motherboard says that one of CWA's members sent a phishing email to Holdren's wife, pretending to be Holdren. The cyber-criminal claimed that he forgot the password for their family's Xfinity account and asked her to “remind him”, and she answered without question.

The hacker used the Xfinity account to redirect all calls coming to the family home to the phone number of the Free Palestine Movement. According to Softpedia, CWA's hacks are meant to raise attention to Palestine's situation and Israel's abuses.

A spokesperson for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy commented, “We are aware of this issue and have reported it to law enforcement.”
