Credant Technologies has launched an endpoint data leakage prevention solution.

Credant Protector offers government agencies comprehensive device and wireless port control, as well as extensive optical media (CD/DVD) encryption capabilities. It allows authorised government employees to utilise removable media to further the agency mission while eliminating the risk that sensitive data may be lost, stolen, or corrupted.

Powered by Safend, Credant Protector includes file shadowing, load balancing, management by domain and options for large, matrixed government agencies to manage the entire deployment through a single server.

It also offers a number of key safety measures, including granular control to detect and restrict data transfers by device, device type, or serial number, data awareness that inspects files by type; allows, blocks, or restricts the transfer of files to and from external storage devices and an anti-hardware keylogger that blocks both USB and PS/2 hardware keyloggers.

Pete Morrison, vice president for Credant, said: “Sensitive government data is a precious asset that must be protected. The recent malicious code attack to the Department of Defense's network using USB drives demonstrates that removable media can increase the vulnerability of sensitive government data.

“At the same time, removable media also enhances the government's ability to share information – an essential tool in protecting the homeland, supporting the warfighter, and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of government.”
