Dell SecureWorks has added third-party security information and event monitoring (SIEM)and web application firewall services to its managed services portfolio.

It said that the SIEM service offers users the ability to reduce the time, complexity and costs associated with deployment and management of a SIEM solution within their security infrastructure. Users will have the option of Dell SecureWorks handling both the management and monitoring of the SIEM platform, or monitoring only, and will decide whether or not to maintain the SIEM data at their location.

Dan DeRosa, director of product management at Dell SecureWorks, said: “Dell SecureWorks has always been flexible and vendor-agnostic in order to provide the most appropriate security services to address its customers' needs.

“By expanding our SIEM portfolio of services to include other best-of-breed technologies, in addition to our proprietary SIEM technology and SIM On-Demand service offering, we are providing more options to meet the demands of the market.”

It has also announced the launch of a fully managed web application firewall service, offering F5's BIG-IP Application Security Manager. “Working with F5 to include the management of its WAF solution as a part of Dell SecureWorks' application security services offerings deepens Dell's relationship with F5, a leader in networking technology and a Global Preferred Dell Partner,” said DeRosa.

Manny Rivelo, European vice-president of security and strategic solutions at F5, said: “With the majority of websites vulnerable to either the OWASP Top 10 threats or flaws in business logic, this service is critical to any organisation running and developing applications today. In addition, the solution will help enterprises comply with rapidly expanding regulations, respond quickly to changes in business requirements, and protect vital assets without disruption to their business.”

Finally, Dell SecureWorks has also added a mobile application that provides anytime access to Security Operations Center analysts, ticketing information and workflow for security events from its Counter Threat Unit.

The free application is available globally to Dell SecureWorks customers via the app stores associated with their mobile platform.
