Equinix is to build new data centres in London and Singapore.
The London centre will be 300,000 sq ft while the Singapore centre will be 110,000 sq ft. The site selected for the London expansion will be located in the suburb of Slough, will augment Equinix's four other centres in the London market.
Both new centres will feature physical infrastructures consistent with Equinix's standards for security, environmental control and power availability. The first phase of the London centre will accommodate approximately 1,700 cabinets, and, at full build out, the centre will have a total capacity of approximately 5,500 to 6,000 cabinets.
The first phase of the Singapore centre will accommodate approximately 700 cabinets, and, at full build out, the centre will have a total capacity of approximately 1,700 cabinets.
Steve Smith, president and CEO of Equinix, said: “In London and Singapore, we continue to experience strong growth and anticipate that we will soon reach capacity in these existing centres.”
