F-Secure has launched its first products for smartphones on the Android platform.

Its advanced anti-theft for mobile has been expanded to the Android platform, while version six of its mobile security has also been launched.

The new version of mobile security includes browsing protection, F-Secure's first mobile in-the-cloud feature and anti-theft with a locator feature, which makes it possible to locate the phone (or a person holding the phone) on a map.

Patrik Sallner, VP of the mobile business unit, said: “Many smartphone users have not been sure whether mobile web surfing or online banking and shopping are really safe. The new browsing protection feature in F-Secure mobile security 6 gives extra peace of mind.”

The F-Secure anti-theft for mobile enables remote locking and wiping of confidential data if a smartphone is lost or stolen. It also includes a remote lock that can be used to lock the device easily with a single SMS message, theft control, which activates when the SIM card is changed by locking the phone and sending the new SIM information to the owner, and remote wipe functionalities.

The browsing protection feature is also included in this product. Sallner said: “F-Secure has been protecting mobile devices for a full decade and we are proud to introduce our first products for the fast-growing Android platform. Our anti-theft for mobile adds a valuable level of extra security for smartphone users and can also be easily upgraded to include more security features, including browsing protection.”
