FaceTime Communications has confirmed that it has been renamed Actiance following the purchase of the FaceTime brand by Apple.

Kailash Ambwani, CEO of Actiance, previously told SC Magazine that the new identity for the company would be 'a sexy name'. Saying that it better reflects its focus on 'active compliance' for next-generation communications in the enterprise, Actiance offers services for the 'safe and productive use of unified communications, collaboration and Web 2.0, including blogs and social networking sites'.

Ambwani said: “Our business has always been about providing active compliance and security, from our heritage in the world of instant messaging to our support of unified communications and social networking.

“As the internet has changed and the communications profile of the enterprise has evolved, so has our platform. We have consistently delivered a trusted platform for our customers to depend on for their security, management and compliance requirements.”
