Fortinet has launched the FortiGate-620B multi-threat security appliance.
With the introduction of security-specific ASIC network processors previously reserved for high-end products, the FortiGate-620B sets new performance records with 16 Gbps firewall and 12 Gbps VPN throughput.
Expandable up to 24 ports, the FortiGate-620B appliance offers the highest port density in its class, which is the key driver behind the flexibility that enterprise companies can now have for internal network security segmentation.
The FortiGate-620B appliance integrates eight core security functions, including anti-virus, intrusion prevention (IPS), spyware prevention, anti-spam, web content filtering, traffic shaping, VPN and firewall.
Michael Xie, CTO and co-founder at Fortinet, said: “The increased popularity of gigabit-switching infrastructures and growing network size are fuelling the need for internal network segmentation points with gigabit-per-second links, and these requirements are extending beyond traditional high-end enterprises.
“The FortiGate-620B continues Fortinet's strategy to drive higher price/performance and port density into our products in order to bring high-end enterprise-level features to a broader enterprise segment.”
