Users of handheld devices are more worried about muggings than viruses and security threats.

According to research by WStore, only 15 per cent identified viruses, hackers and IT security as a threat to their PDA or smartphone. However 32 per cent claimed that they were more worried about it making them a target for muggers.

Despite this, 62 per cent claim that they are better equipped to do their job more efficiently with a handheld, with the primary motivation (59 per cent) for using it the need to stay in touch with work during regular periods of remote working.

Stewart Hayward, commercial director at WStore, said: “WStore strives to stay in touch with customers' attitudes and opinions. The use of mobile computing devices has been a real growth area in recent years and this makes it all the more important for us to be in tune with what businesses want.”
