Tenable Network Security has announced the launch of a remote vulnerability scanning service for the audit of internet-facing IP addresses for both network and web application vulnerabilities.

It said that the Nessus Perimeter Service is an evolution of its Nessus vulnerability scanner and it is now offered as a hosted model for faster and easier deployments. It allows subscribers to scan any number of internet facing websites covering a wide range of devices such as desktop computers, mobile laptops or smartphones.

The service includes access for one user account to perform scans and analyse results, with 24/7 access offered to Tenable's ticketing system.

Ron Gula, CEO of Tenable, said: “We are very pleased to introduce the Nessus Perimeter Service at such attractive rates. This is our first SaaS-based offering and establishes a foundation for Tenable to provide other enterprise-class SaaS services to our customers giving them a variety of approaches to secure their IT operations.”
