IP Expo: Slaying myths and monsters with Dr Barker [video]

News by Tony Morbin

Dr Jessica Barker warns against alienating your users if you want to get them onside in the fight to secure your information network.

With the aid of Dracula-like attackers feeding on their hosts, and Frankenstein users, abandoned and gone rogue, Dr Jessica Barker, independent cyber security consultant, provided an entertaining and informative presentation at IP Expo 2016 in London on "Cyber Security Myths and Monsters: how to raise awareness and change behaviours".

The key message was that you won't change the behaviour of your users if you alienate them, view them as idiots and treat them accordingly, yet if you are encouraging, informative and positive, you can get them on board and reduce their susceptibility to attacks, benefiting both them personally and your organisation.
