Information management firm Iron Mountain has been named as a preferred supplier within the government's new £200 million document management framework.

The company has been named as the sole supplier recommended by the Government Procurement Service for the provision for offsite information management services, digitisation, scanning and secure shredding.

Created as part of the government's pledge to deliver efficient and more effective procurement, the new Document Storage and Related Services Framework will see the digitisation and storage of government archive files; Iron Mountain's portfolio of services will be available to all of central and local government as well as the NHS, educational institutions, the emergency services and other public sector bodies.

Liz Baldwin, GPS category lead for document management, said: “Iron Mountain was chosen because of its demonstrated experience in managing and safeguarding public sector records, its quality and range of services and stated ongoing commitment to security and innovation. This framework gives Iron Mountain a real opportunity to deliver savings to both central government and the wider public sector.”

Simon Duddy, commercial director (public sector) at Iron Mountain, said: “We are committed to helping the Government better use information and save money in the process. We have an established record of working with central government, local authorities and NHS trusts to develop and deliver world-class services across the public sector.

“We will build on this experience to provide our public sector customers with new services and innovations to meet their fast-changing information needs, while delivering clear cost savings.”
