A US drone strike on 10 December near Raqqah, Syria, killed Siful Haque Sujan, one of the Islamic State's (ISIS) leading hackers, according to a release from US Central Command.

Sujan, a Bangladeshi educated as a computer systems engineer in the UK, led the militant group's hacking initiative, and bolstered ISIS's anti-surveillance technology and weapons development.

Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren said in a release, “Now that he's dead, ISIL has lost a key link between networks.”

A series of air strikes conducted between 7-27 December in Syria and Iraq took out a number of ISIS leaders, including some believed to have provided external support for the 13 November Paris terror attacks.
