The Jericho Forum and Open Group is to host a webinar in the new year that will focus on identity issues.
Set to be held at 4pm on the 18 January 2012, the webcast comes less than a year after the Jericho Forum published guidelines on identity.
It said that the one-hour webinar will include Jericho Forum board members addressing the main issues around identity access and management, including: why the Jericho Forum identity commandments are relevant for all organisations; and a response to the US government's NSTIC initiative and the key principles for a global, scalable and manageable trusted identity scheme.
A spokesperson said it will provide a better understanding of why identity is critical to the future of internet security, and the importance of identity from a personal, business and global viewpoint.
“The Jericho Forum sees it as being very important for industry to sit up and carefully scrutinise the NSTIC recommendations. If this does not happen, multiple vendors are likely to adopt NSTIC-style policies in their future developments and they will become de facto without due scrutiny, and that will of course affect the industry on a global, not just US, basis. The effect may not necessarily be positive – particularly given some of the privacy issues we have already seen evidenced in the US,” he said.
Presenters including board members Paul Simmonds, Adrian Seccombe and Bob West, along with Open Group V-P of security Jim Hietala, will suggest actions that information security and IT professionals should take. Click here to attend.
