Juniper Networks has revealed new features in its access control system.

Unified Access Control (UAC) version 2.1 is a network-protection device that also monitors employee application use, the network infrastructure company said.

According to Juniper Networks, added features include a threat-control centre and user-identity profiler, which allows IT mangers to monitor network and application usage, audit access and address regulatory compliance.

Endpoint device support, management assessment checks and a Layer 2/Layer 3 UAC agent for Microsoft Windows Vista, are also new.

Juniper UAC 2.1 is available at the end of October from £2,453 for 100 users. The software is free for current UAC customers.
