KACE has expanded the capabilities for its endpoint security solution with support added for Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.6.
It has enhanced the KBOX family of systems management appliances to further help organisations stay ahead of incoming patch updates by broadening the patch coverage depth to include automated patching policies without the need for manual intervention.
Rob Meinhardt, co-founder and CEO of KACE, claimed that the company's approach is to dramatically simplify the patching process, while at the same time ensuring customers automatically receive the most up-to-date patches saving IT administrators' time.
Meinhardt said: “The businesses that use the KBOX are medium businesses and do not have specialised administrators or system managers, and so tend to simplify the management process and automate it, so an admin can ensure that basic levels are adequately patched. We are trying to produce a measure by which administrators can deliver a securely patched network.”
Ken Ross, senior product manager at KACE, claimed that a lot of vulnerabilities are moving to the client application, and it is now offering a focus on application support working with Lumension.
Ross said: “The main addition is support with new operating systems and also patching the most common set of applications that get attacked. Recent work on prioritising best practise is to put automation in place.”
Rich Hlavka, senior vice president of business development for Lumension, said: “What has changed in the last few years is while organisations were ramping up their protection methods for their operating systems, the hackers have found a new fertile ground for attack – the application layer – to launch botnets, malware, blended threats and cyber attacks.
“KACE offers a unique approach and business value, allowing organisations to optimise endpoint security while staying ahead of threats. KACE's out-of-the box, comprehensive vulnerability management solution, which includes leading patch management capabilities from Lumension patch and remediation, is easy to use and offers depth and breadth of coverage and protection for all major applications and operating systems.”
